Nestled on a two-acre property near the Hilton Village, our cottage offers a private entrance and fully fenced garden, for your peace of mind. At night, listen to the African Wood Owl and take in the twinkling lights of Pietermaritzburg from the upstairs.
Since acquiring this property in 2010, we’ve cherished its serene, country setting. Courtleigh Cottage is conveniently close to the Quarry Centre and local restaurants, ensuring you’re never far from essential supplies.
For your convenience, we provide a double carport exclusively for our guests, along with a spacious outdoor braai area perfect for family activities. In case of inclement weather, our covered portico and enclosed Glass Room offer comfortable outdoor seating options.

What to expect
Bedrooms
Both bedrooms include en-suite bathrooms. The upstairs spacious bedroom offers a beautiful view of the garden and features an en-suite with a shower. The downstairs bedroom has an en-suite equipped with ‘His’ and ‘Hers’ basins, a bath, and a shower
Lounges
The double-volume open-plan lounge area creates an airy, inviting atmosphere filled with natural light. Enjoy the comfortable couches in both the downstairs and upstairs lounges, each offering a unique vantage point. The upstairs open-plan lounge also features a double sleeper couch, providing additional sleeping space for larger groups.
Outdoor
A outdoor patio area, bordered by a built in braai looks onto the enclosed garden complete with comfortable outdoor furniture for those lazy afternoons. A large umbrella, provides shade for those hot summer days.

Kitchen
The fully stocked kitchen opens to the dining and lounge area, allowing you to remain social while catering for up to six people. Appliances include a full-sized fridge, oven and hob, microwave, and all the extras needed for your self-catering needs.

Security
Courtleigh Cottage has its own 4ft fence and manual double gate, but the greater garden is surrounded by a palisade and has automated access. The downstairs windows have security guards, and the doorways have slam-lock security gates. A state of the art alarm system can be activated, by you, should you wish to use it.
Parking
There is a double carport next to the cottage as well as space for external parking.
Outdoor
A built in braai/BBQ is available on the patio, for your exclusive use, lending itself to lovely opportunities to socialise with your friends and family.
Kitchen and Dining Room
The kitchen is amply equipped with everything needed for a self-catering stay, including a large fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee plunger, hob, and oven. The open plan dining room has seating for six guests.
Indoor Heating and Cooling
Wall heaters in both downstairs and upstairs bedrooms are provided to keep you cozy as well as a ceiling fan in both bedrooms for hot summer nights.
Entertainment
The upstairs Smart TV has Netflix and Disney+ or should you wish to have fun with the family, board games are available to play. If you feel like relaxing and haven’t bought a book, we have a small library for your reading pleasure.

Courtleigh Country Cottage History
Courtleigh Cottage, aptly named for its location on the former tennis court at 5 Cuckoo Lane, has been a cherished part of our family property since 2010. Construction began in August 2017 for our son and daughter-in-law, who enjoyed living here until November of last year when they purchased a property in Hilton. The building process occurred in phases, with completion in January 2018. After they moved out, we embarked on further renovations, including the installation of a paved area, plastering walls, repainting, and furnishing to create the comfortable retreat you see today. We trust that you will be pleased with the results!
